Join SDO for a fun Halloween-O at UCSD during the spooky hours of darkness!
This is based on the usual Score-O orienteering rules, but with a Halloween theme. All orienteerers will have to beware of random "Ghost controls" which have been possessed by evil spirits!
There will be one ghost control in each
point category/difficulty level. This ghost control will be worth half points but may have candy or some other treat to console you!
Orienteerers will then know that the remainder of the
markers in the point category will have full points. Orienteerers may have to adjust their strategy to compensate for the ghost control.
IMPORTANT: Bring a flash light/head lamp and a friend! E-Sticks will NOT be used.
What is a Score-O?
Competitors visit as many controls as they can, in any order, within a specified time limit.
The controls are worth points, sometimes different amounts based on difficulty.
There are usually penalty (minus) points for each minute you finish over the time limit. The winner is the person with the most points; scoring ties are broken by the fastest time.
